sunshine and hello kitty

Well, okay, I can’t say much about the sun part.. I walked out once to get the groceries, but I really haven’t been outside today.

My mom & dad bought me a gift from Target!

Easter hello kitty plushie! (The one on the left.) They bought me the one on the right for valentines day. I LOVE these! They’re just so cute, and soft!

Today was very good though. I read Life of Pi, worked out, watched a TON of youtube, and it just flew by.

And now I shall get some rest! zZzZz

Baked Tofu

Two words: Fucking Delicious!

I usually eat tofu every two weeks when my parents buy it. I know you’re probably not supposed to eat it straight out of the package, but I usually do. I’m used to tofu being kind of mushy and a bland flavor that.. well.. takes some time getting used to. I never ate it for taste, though. It was for the extra protein kick I need daily.

Now, I’ve tasted stir fried tofu, and it’s always been pretty epic, but I generally avoid using the stove at all costs. When I heard about baked tofu, I was excited. Same texture without all the mess of stir frying? Sign me up!

I marinaded it in 1 tsp soy sauce for 10 minutes, tossed it in a little cayenne and garlic power, and stuck it in the oven while I gathered my other salad ingredients. How long did I stick it in the oven? I don’t remember exactly. I think it was in at 350 for 20 minutes, and I broiled it for 10. Should’ve just broiled it for 20 minutes, constantly flipping it every 5 minutes. Flipping it, fyi, was a pain in the ass. The only thing I can flip is an omelet, and that’s because I’m supposed to fuck up and leave it half slipped. I ended up turning the tofu with my hands. It burned, but it was worth it.

Also recommended: put tin foil on the pan and spray it with nonstick cooking spray. I did that, and I’m glad I did, or else the tofu would’ve stuck to the pan and cleaning up would’ve been a pain in the ass. Plus, when you’re done.. not one damn pan to clean! All you have to do is throw the tin foil away. Woot!

Results? Best. salad. ingredient. EVAR. omnomnomnom.  It’s slightly chewy, has a almost.. crispy skin, and it’s actually.. flavorful! I’ve made it multiple times since this, and I don’t think I’ll ever go back to eating it straight out of the container.
